The Russian military is planning, according to The Times yesterday, to put nuclear weapons around the Baltic Sea if USA installs their planned anti-missile shield in Poland.

The Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt says however today that the Swedish governmnet knows that the Russians already have nuclear weapons in the region.

They have theatre nuclear arms in Kaliningrad which are integrated in the Russian Baltic Sea navy’s weapon system he is quoted in Dagens Nyheter. Russia has also performed military training operations with nuclear weapons according to Bildt.

The Swedish Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs decided today to cancel all military exchange with Russia for the time being due to the war in Georgia.

In the beginning of September, Swedish ships were scheduled to visit Russia. This will now not take place according to Swedish television. The council also demanded a withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgia. They called the Russian behaviour “unacceptable” and stated that Russian troops must "cease with activities that destabilises Georgia, for example destruction of infrastructure or blocking roads” (Quotations from the Swedish television)
