Erik Hamrén: Sweden´s new coach

Sports | 2009-11-05 | 2 comments
Football: The 52 year old Erik Hamrén will take over as Sweden´s new coach. This was announced today by the Swedish Football Association (SFA).

Hamrén is currently the coach of  the Norwegian football club Rosenborg. He will continue to lead Rosenorg until 31 August 2010 and until then he will only be the coach of the Sweden´s team during matches.

Lars Åke Lagrell, chairman of SFA is satisfied:

- We are very happy and proud that we could engage Erik Hamrén, he says to Sweden´s public TV broadcaster SVT.

Also SVT´s football expert Thomas Wernersson is happy:

- It is relieving that they finally could solve the issue of finding a coach and put an end to the farce that was starting to develop.... He is hungry and moving up in his career and that is good, he says to SVT.

Wernersson is not worried over the fact that Hamrén will not take over until 1 September 2010.

- I think he will be in charge of most decisions anyway until that, he says to SVT.

Hamrén seems both happy and confident:

- To be a coach for the Swedish team has been a dream to me and I am very grateful to Rosenborg, says Hamrén to SFA.
