Manifestations for Saab today

Economy | 2010-01-17 | 6 comments
Saab-enthusiasts on around 30 places around the world participated in manifestations for the troubled car company today.

In Trollhättan, the city in west Sweden where most people are employed by Saab, 500 vehicles participated in the car procession.

Old and new Saab cars in all possible models and colours were there. One of the organisers, Michael Törnros says to the Swedish radio:

- This is what we want. It is supposed to be crowded with cars and a little chaotic. If they are human beings with emotions over at GM, they’ve got to realise that this is about so much more than just money. It is about warm, friendly feelings.

The Swedish radio reports that rumors in Trollhättan say that a definite (?) decision over Saab’s future will come tomorrow. There have however been many ‘definite’ decisions already. Dutch Spyker seems however to be the sole remaining bidder

People who drive cars are motorists. People who drive Saabs are Saab fanatics. Saab Rules. I love Saab. Saab must never die.

A nice car, good product, right spirit never dies. And so does SAAB!

GM´s high volume output didn´t prevend it´s bankruptcy last year. It is all about product and marketing. Saabs´ business plan is viable with 100.000 cars sold per year. If those buyers can be found, Saab will survive.

But that is the problem, you look at the company as competition that GM put it against. something that it was never capable of for the past 20 years. hopefully the new owner will realize what a great company it is.

It´s unique, it´s boutique, it is Saab. Look how many people care and love it so passionately around the world.

Saab will die, sooner or later. If GM does not kill it today, it will die in few months under its new owner. A brand with such a low volume can´t possibly survive. Plus there are far too many, far more superior brands in that segment today.

Sweden recently decided to start taking admission fees for non-EU students starting in the fall semester 2011. What do you think of this?
