Occupations with good chances to employment

National News | 2010-02-02
As usual, the future looks bright for physicians and specialist nurses. This shows the Public Employment Services 2010 Professional Compass, published today. In overall, the Public Employment Service finds that it is now visible light in the tunnel for many occupations.

The trend of a declining employment ceases in many industries, and in the second half of the year employment will even rise in some areas.

At this year´s hot list, I.e. professions where there is a deficit on the Swedish labour market, is as usual medical doctor at the top. Thereafter comes secondary school teachers in vocational subjects and nurses with special training.

On the icy list is nursing assistants, receptionists and nannies. There is also some professions with longer education on this list: biologists, journalists and photographers.

But then there are two groups that have an even worse position and risk prolonged unemployment, no matter how much the economy turns upward.

One group is the employees in the manufacturing industry that now are redundant and have a short training. They are unlikely to get jobs in the same profession, according to the Public Employment Service.

The second group are young people who left upper secondary school without the complete scores. They will also have it very tough, even in an economic boom.
