On Tuesday, the Swedish government will present a new proposal to make it easier for employment related immigration. This is stated by the State channel SVT.

An official report, which was initiated by the the former social democratic government, proposed to extend the duration of a working permit in Sweden from 18 to 24 months. The report also suggested that the permit could be extended if needed.

According to SVT, the new Swedish Minister of migration Tobias Billström will follow the recommendations of the official report with one exception: He will remove the right of the Swedish Labour Unions to veto an application for a working permit. Billström has also hinted plans to abolish the rule, which forces foreign students with a diploma from a non-Swedish university to apply for the working permit in their own countries.
