A group of divers have found what seems to be Mars, a flagship of the Swedish war fleet, which sank in 1564 just north of the island Öland in the Baltic Sea.
The legendary ship was wrecked in a battle with the Danish-Lübeck fleet.
"Everything indicates that it is Mars that has been found. Both the size and dating of the wreck is correct,” says Richard Lundgren, one of the divers.
Mars was one of the greatest contemporary ships in the Baltic Sea, and considerably larger than the latter built man-of-war Vasa that is in a museum in Stockholm.
