Sports | 2011-09-20

Last night Djurgården beat AIK with 1-0 at Råsunda stadium. The result means that AIK does not have any realistic chance to become Swedish champions this year. Djurgården still struggle to stay in Allsvenskan and avoid relegation. You can find the table here. Judging from the way the two teams played, it was not obvious which one was the top team and vice versa.

Tonight, the two clubs met again. This time in ice hockey at Ericsson Globe Arena. Djurgården won with 4-2 but had problems during the match and got many penalties. Their goal keeper Gustav Wesslau saved them at several occasions.

Footnote: The two biggest clubs in Stockholm when it comes to local support and historical achievements happens to be the same in both the two most popular sports in Sweden – football (soccer) and ice hockey. In football there is also a third big club - Hammarby.
