Afghan refugees dumped in the forest. Update: They have changed their story

National News | 2009-12-27 | 1 comment
After more than two weeks in a hidden room in a container and many hardships, five refugee boys were dumped in the forest on Christmas eve.

The five boys were left alone in the forest outside Sävsjö, in south Sweden´s inland. For map click here. It is most likely that human trafficing is behind the case.

The boys were initally lost in the slowy forest but after a while they found their way by following a railway. Now they have been taken cared of by the Church Höglandskyrkan in Sävsjö.

The five boys are between 14 and 18 years old. They come from Afghanistan and they hardly speak any English at all.

- We have succeded in communicating a little bit with a translation programme on the computer, says reverend Jonas Nyström to the local public radio station Sveriges Radio Jönköping.

The boys were very tired, cold and hungry when they finally found the village. Members of the Church helped them with food and clothes.

On Monday (tomorrow) Swedish authorities will be contacted to investigate their case.

Update:

After interrogations with the boys and investigations, it has been revealed that the boys were not at all dumped in the forest. After discussions with SJ (Swedish Railways) it turned out that the boys went with the train but since they had no tickets they were set off at Sävsjö.

In the interrogations the boys told the police that they were let off from the truck in south Sweden and then jumped on a train.

- They say that they have come from Afghanistan with a truck through Iran and Turkey and finally been dropped in south Sweden. There they slept at a railway station and thereafter jumped on a train with the intention to go to Stockholm,  says Christer Edlund at the Police in Eksjö to Sveriges Radio Småland.

The reverend who helped them with food, clothes and a place to sleep in the Church is not angry. He says to Swedish Television that they needed help and that was enough for him.

What happens to the humanity which the Global powers profess to fight for in Afghan ,when they throw away these refugees in the war and get their tents bulldozed. Nobody leaves his place happily, how many condolence letters have been sent to bereaved families in Afghanistan...MR Gordon Brown..when whites die its heart breaking when afghans die you get away by throwing few dollars to them... this is a rascist war and simply that.
