Wow. Some of you seem really quite confused. This is the guest list for the wedding between HRH Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling of *Sweden* - NOT england! This is not HRH William and Miss Kate Middleton´s wedding guest list! So you really don´t need to concern yourselves with what england "goes for." Not to mention- Obama is not a socialist!

Constitutional monarchies are the best democratic systems anywhere. The American head-of-state two-party election circus every for years is a joke. Why is it that constitutional monarchies are pretty much the most stable countries in the world? The Scandinavian, Dutch and Belgian monarchies particularly. The British electoral system isn´t really too democratic. Thank goodness they are a monarchy though.

I think Roberto is trying to say the King of Spain does not attend royal weddings. He is incorrect. The King has indeed attended weddings of royalty, either current or deposed, including the nuptials of Princess Adelaide d´Orleans in Spain (2002) as well as the wedding of his own son, the Prince of Asturias, in Madrid, (2003), his sister Margarita (1972), as well as the London wedding of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece (1995).

Also for those who believe the former king and his family should use the surname "Glücksburg" this is inappropriate. Glücksburg isn´t a name; it´s a place. Calling them king or queen or prince or princess doesn´t hurt anybody, does it? Everybody knows Greek is a republic and has been for decades.

Re Constantine II: It is considered acceptable to call a deposed monarch and his/her family by their former titles. Also as Wikipedia states, "The court decision also ruled that Constantine´s human rights were not violated by the Greek state´s decision not to grant him Greek citizenship and passport until he acquires a surname, which Constantine refuses to take to date, citing the fact that his family has no surname. Additionally, he uses his royal title, citing international protocol."

nice wedding, it shows how a monarchy can bind a nation together. poor Greece is a mess within Europe as is Italy: a King could have given more stability! A democratic monarchy (as we have in Holland)is a blessing for a country and can be very democratic: more than 80% of our population supports the monarchy!

Continued... and often sometmes it is not practical to invite the President of Greece for the same occasion, there, simple. Please note that Sweden has very good relations with the Greek Republic and the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and British royal family travel there in both official and personal circumstances without any incident at all, in fact, all present royal families do. Amazing wedding service, well done Sweden. For those readers who are not familiar with Greek history, the greek Royal Family are originally from Denmark and thus, very closely related to Sweden´s Royal family. The reason they were invited to the wedding is because they are close family and still retain the titles they were born & married into until they pass away. Thus, it is often the case with family oriented state occasions within the remaining kingdoms in Europe to invite The King of Greece

I am from Romania, which is now, unfortunately, a republic. However, I am extremely proud that my country is represented by our Crown Princess, HRH Princess Margareta of Romania, and by HRH Prince Radu of Romania. The two Greek persons that commented above should know that a King remains a King, both in title, rank, prestige and social value, whether raigning or not, whether on the throne or deposed. Sorry, Greek friends, but constitutional monarchy is the ONLY guarantee for democracy.

Constantine is Basileus (King) of the Greeks because of his Orthodox faith! He was crowned and annointed, he did not abdicate. He was forced from Greece by an illegal coup. "Greece is a democratic country, and we have a president, not a freaking king". What is this supposed to mean? That Sweden is not a democratic country? Anyway, the Swedish Royal Family treats him as a king. Other royal families treat him as a king. Therefore, Constantine is a king.

Probably not the author´s fault, but i need to comment on this: Greece does not have a king for the last 36 years. Therefore, although the people mentioned under Greece used to be the royal family, they are not any more. In a nutshell, i don´t see any good reason for that person to be called "H.M King". Greece is a democratic country, and we have a president, not a freaking king Sorry for the runt, i know it´s not the authors fault, but had to set things straight!
