No inner city buses are operating.

-We tried to drive in the inner city for a while but it was not possible said Tomas Silvander at SL (Stockholm public transports) according to Swedish television.

Also the commuter trains and metro have delays and canceled departures. The flight traffic to and from Arlanda, Bromma and Skavsta airports are affected. People who have a flight today are urged to be in very good time since it might take a while to reach the airport. Here you can find links to all airports in Sweden to find information about your flight.

The Swedish Transport Administration urges everyone in Stockholm to leave their car at home. Twenty-five traffic accidents have been reported just since mid night, no one has gotten serious injuries though.

As if the weather problems were not enough a cable was accidently destroyed south of Stockholm which stopped the metro traffic between Globen and Hagsätra.

The coast line north of Stockholm was also affected by the snow. Many trains between Sundsvall and Gävle and between Stockholm and Dalarna are delayed or cancelled. In Gästrikland, ambulances have difficulties reaching remote houses on small roads.

Update 3pm: The bus traffic is now operating again in some parts of Stockholm. Follow the development on SL's homepage. SL uses Google translate to translate their homepage into other languages, click on "translate" up to the left of their site.
