The City of Stockholm will release the source code around some so-called application programming interfaces, and give access to some of the city’s many databases. In this way the information can be used in new ways in apps and web services

Mayor Sten Nordin hope that private entrepreneurs can come up with business ideas with the help of the city's rich information resources, he says to the public radio SR.

The local government hope that residents will see new and currently unknown opportunities by getting access to the information.
