“This morning at 26 minutes past four o’clock AM, a 51 centimetres long and 3 280 grams heavy and very cute princess was born," the prince told the press.

“As I walked down from the room the little princess rested on her mother's chest, and seemed to have it very cozy, so it was hard to tear oneself away,” continued Prince Daniel.

He was very moved and thanked the staff at the Karolinska Hospital for the care he and Crown Princess Victoria received during delivery.

“Both the little daughter and the Crown Princess are doing great,” said Prince Daniel.

The newly-appointed father said that it of course had been very nervous.

“This is a new situation, something you never experienced before. To deliver the baby is always associated with certain risks but everything has gone exceptionally well.”

“This was special and very nice,” Prince Daniel said about the experience.

The prince also said that the girl's grandparents are very excited about their new grandchild and he then finished the the press conference by asking for peace an quiet.

“As you might guess, we need to just be our little family now," said the prince before he thanked for himself.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel's daughter was born heir to the throne. This means that she stands in line to be monarch after Victoria when she eventually has ascended to the throne after her father King Carl Gustaf.
